Setup guide

Connect Premiere to your reasoning engine.

Liora Companion is the signed macOS menu-bar app that brokers a local, authenticated connection between the Liora panel and a CLI you already control.

What you need

  • macOS 13 Ventura or newer on Apple silicon or Intel.
  • Adobe Premiere Pro with the Liora panel installed.
  • A signed-in installation of either Claude Code or Codex.

Install Companion

  1. Download the correct DMG for your Mac.
  2. Open the downloaded DMG and drag Liora Companion to Applications.
  3. Open Applications and launch Liora Companion. Its mark appears in the menu bar.
  4. If macOS asks, allow the app to accept local network connections.
A production download is signed with a Dumo LLC Developer ID and notarized by Apple. Do not bypass a macOS warning for an unsigned or unidentified build.

Connect a reasoning engine

Open the Companion menu. Each engine reports one of four useful states: ready, sign-in required, update required, or not installed. Select a non-ready engine to open its install guide.

Companion searches standard macOS package-manager locations, including Homebrew, Volta, pnpm, Bun, nvm, fnm, asdf, and mise paths. You normally do not need to configure a binary path manually.

Confirm from Terminal

claude --version
codex --version

You only need one engine. If both are ready, you can choose the one Liora uses from the Companion menu.

Open Liora in Premiere

  1. Launch Adobe Premiere Pro and open a project.
  2. Open the Liora panel from Premiere’s Extensions menu.
  3. Keep Liora Companion running. The panel reconnects to it on your Mac.
  4. Describe a small, reversible timeline task and review the proposed changes.

Start at login

Enable Start at login from the Companion menu if you want Liora ready whenever Premiere opens. You can disable it at any time without uninstalling the app.

Troubleshooting

The CLI says “not installed”

Quit and reopen Companion after installing the CLI. If you use a custom install location, launch Companion once from Terminal with LIORA_CLAUDE_CLI or LIORA_CODEX_CLI set to the full executable path.

The CLI says “sign in required”

Open Terminal, run the CLI, finish its normal sign-in flow, and then reopen the Companion menu.

The Premiere panel is offline

Confirm Companion is running and healthy from its menu. Then close and reopen the Liora panel. Both parts must run under the same macOS user account.

Uninstall

  1. Disable Start at login from the Companion menu.
  2. Quit Liora Companion.
  3. Move Liora Companion from Applications to the Trash.

Removing Companion does not remove Claude Code, Codex, Premiere projects, or source footage. Optional local Companion state remains under ~/.liora until you choose to remove it.
